A big thank you for this article! I have spent the better part of two decades railing against techslop. I am really happy to see it has finally become a topic of interest, in this excellent article as well as in widespread response to the H1B slop.

- I think part of the etymology of goyslop is the idea that the Jews of Big Food (e.g. Kraft) and Big Ag are purposefully poisoning the white goyim with addictive but non nutritious food.

- AI slop is already here and already endemic. The cultural revival is unlikely to happen it all, but if it does, it won't be led by the VC's.

I don't know if the intent here matters that much; certainly it's not the intent to produce a quality product. But the result in food, as in software, is the same.

Great article! Places many things I have seen over my career in context, thank you.

Unfortunately i think you are correct in that it is here to stay. Even in failures, excuses will be made as too many C level, Sales, marketing and other non-technical roles have just enough understanding of the basics (its the cloud! Saves capex [ignoring increased op-ex], instantscale! Obsevability!) that now believe this is the normaland can't even fathom going back to on-prem, monolithic installs with waterfall development instead of agile
